Zoom Video Communications has made an undisclosed investment in Anthropic, an artificial intelligence (AI) start-up, and plans to incorporate its technology into the Zoom video-conferencing platform. This move comes as Zoom aims to enhance its offerings with AI features to compete with Microsoft Teams, which currently dominates the enterprise video-conferencing market.
Integration of Anthropic's Claude into Zoom's Platform
Anthropic's Claude, a large language model that directly competes with OpenAI's ChatGPT, will be integrated into Zoom's platform as part of this collaboration. Claude is designed to perform similar tasks to ChatGPT, generating human-like text responses to prompts. Initially, Claude will be added to Zoom Contact Center, the company's call center service.
Expanding AI Capabilities with OpenAI Partnership
In March, Zoom had already announced a partnership with OpenAI to incorporate AI-driven functionalities into its Zoom IQ assistant. These capabilities include conversation summaries and message drafts. By collaborating with Anthropic, Zoom aims to further bolster its AI capabilities and improve user experiences.
Microsoft Teams and Salesforce Slack Also Embrace AI
In a similar vein, Microsoft Teams introduced a premium version of its application powered by ChatGPT in February. This AI integration enables enhanced communication and collaboration within the platform. Additionally, Salesforce Slack has expressed its intention to integrate ChatGPT into its collaboration software, further showcasing the growing trend of incorporating AI technology into video-conferencing and messaging platforms.
By investing in Anthropic and integrating the advanced capabilities of Claude, Zoom is positioning itself to provide more robust AI features to its users, enabling them to have more productive and engaging virtual meetings and interactions.
