🚨 Israel Targets Hamas Leaders in Doha, Qatar Strongly Condemns Attack
Doha, Qatar – The Israeli military confirmed on Tuesday that it carried out a targeted strike in Doha, the capital of Qatar, in an attempt to assassinate top Hamas leaders. The attack marks Israel’s first-ever strike inside Qatar, a Gulf nation that has long played a key role as mediator in ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
🔥 Explosions Rock Doha
Residents reported hearing multiple blasts in Doha on September 9, with thick smoke rising across parts of the city. The attack coincided with a Hamas negotiating team meeting, where members were considering the latest US-brokered ceasefire proposal.
📰 Israeli Military Statement
In a joint statement with Shin Bet intelligence, the Israeli military said:
The strike targeted top Hamas leadership accused of orchestrating the October 7, 2023 attacks in southern Israel.
Precision weapons were used to minimize civilian casualties, supported by intelligence operations.
The Hamas leaders attacked were “directly responsible” for years of militant operations against Israel.
🇶🇦 Qatar’s Response
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong condemnation, calling the strike a “criminal act” and denouncing it “in the strongest terms.” Officials stressed that such actions threaten the security of the region, especially as Qatar hosts the largest US military base in the Middle East – Al Udeid Air Base.
🌍 Wider Regional Tensions
The strike comes as Israel continues to wage simultaneous military campaigns in Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and the occupied West Bank, intensifying the already volatile Middle East crisis.
