River Overflow Worsens Market Losses
The Sahastradhara river overflowed due to the downpour, flooding local markets and damaging commercial establishments. Shopkeepers reported heavy losses as floodwaters entered their premises.
Growing Risk of Extreme Weather
The incident underscores the increasing vulnerability of Uttarakhand’s hill districts to cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides. Authorities have urged people in vulnerable locations to remain alert and follow safety advisories.
